Step Experiences

  • A couple of weeks earlier when I was ready to start working on the 8th step I accidentally studied the 9th step for an hour. As I did this, I noticed that I was filled with fear and I did not feel prepared to work on this step. Once I recognized this, I went to step 8 and learned how important it is to never skip steps. This program is inspired and the principles prepare us with exactly what we need to move forward. I'm very grateful for the 6th & 7th steps that taught me to break up my heart and become very humble so the Lord could change me. He was then able to fill my heart full of love in the 8th step as I chose to forgive and love everyone. This was exactly what I needed to start the 9th step with courage and love. I was amazed how opportunities presented themselves so that I could meet with those on my list. It took some courage but the Lord helped me speak to each one with love, kindness and honesty without shame and a feeling of happiness.

  • When it came time for me to talk with each of my sisters about making restitution to them, I found there responses filled with love and understanding. Each of them were grateful that I apologized to them and asked what I could do to make restitution. They had a chance to express their feelings about the situation. They all showed the love they had toward me in their responses. I have tried to show them my love by spending more time to talk with them, attend activities, celebrate their special days, and by telling them. I've also tried to be there for them in their individual trials. Our relationships have improved over the past 2 years and I am grateful for the opportunity to have them. I thought I'd done too much and lost the love of my sisters, but that wasn't the case.
